Certified Australian Angus Beef has appointed a former meat manager for Coles Myer, Bi Lo and Woolworths as its new chief executive.
Phil Morley will start work in the role next week, sharing the reins with existing CEO Michael Pointer until March next year when Mr Pointer plans to wind back to a consultancy role.
CAAB chairman Ed Blackadder said Mr Morley's retail experience would help the expansion of the group's brand.
"However, it is his knowledge and thorough understanding of the complexities of supply chain management that we believe will be of outstanding benefit to the CAAB business," Mr Blackadder said.
Mr Morley has served as a director of both Meat and Livestock Australia and Aus-Meat, and worked in senior meat management positions at both Woolworths and Coles.
"While with Woolworths in Queensland Phil restructured the livestock buying procedure to establish a supply chain model that is recognised as an industry benchmark," Mr Blackadder said.
